Fire Door Safety in Torquay: Could Your Building Be at Risk?

Every Fire Door Has a Job to Do
It's been a little while since I last wrote a post, so what better place to start than sunny Torquay.
At this time of year, with the warm weather finally upon us, there's no better excuse to visit the beautiful counties of Devon and Cornwall.
This feature is all about Torquay, the birthplace of Agatha Christie, the 19th century author who brought the world the legendary detective Hercule Poirot. Alongside its rich literary history, Torquay is renowned for its picturesque harbour, international marina, stunning coastal walks, and fantastic seafood restaurants.
As the weather warms up, so does the importance of fire safety. During the summer months, the risk of fire can increase, making it even more important that fire safety measures are in place to protect the people, homes and buildings where memories are made.
For this project, we carried out fire door surveys at a high-rise residential building in Torquay. Fire door surveys aren't just a legal requirement, they help save lives. Fire doors act as a barrier to prevent the spread of fire and smoke, providing vital time for residents to escape safely and for the fire and rescue service to respond. Even something as simple as the gap between a fire door and its frame can make a significant difference to its performance in the event of a fire.
If you are responsible for a residential building, or you are a resident with concerns about your fire door, ensure it is regularly inspected and properly maintained. Fire doors save lives safeguard what matters most.
